Anhui architecture, sculptures and carvings

Anhui Province is famous for Wood engravings found mainly in Chinese old architecture. In this photo, we were in Anhui for a class field trip. We visited a site where a couple of architectures were slowly relocated to another place for better conservation, far away from the massive pollution and making way for construction space.

A lion within a lion, the image of lion symbolize authority, grandeur and status. It is carved out of solid wood. The whole house was of wooden structure, with many engravings in different place, particularly the designs get more intricate when it comes to the windows.
