Vietnam Trip - Day 2

We woke early in the morning. Teng urged me up, I went for a shower and we checked out from our hostel. Went to the check-out counter to tell the staff we would like to leave off some baggage at the hostel, and tell them we will be coming back tomorrow. We quickly went off to the road in front of Singh Cafe. It was a 10 minutes walk. We arrived early, so we went off for a quick breakfast by the street vendor. Order a cold Chee-chiong-fan look alike local dish, washed it down with a nice thick hot milk coffee.

Still, even after doing all this, the bus did not arrive. We smoke a couple of cigerettes, anxious and afraid that we missed the bus, as we see more people boarding their buses to their destination. Of course, finally the bus came, we uploaded our backpack and boarded the bus. Nothing much throughout, slept through until we enter Mui-Ne.

It’s interesting how everyone just slept through the whole journey, and just wake up when the sea appeared as the bus entered Mui Ne. Everyone just got excited. I have to say it was really a pretty side along the coast. And it’s a long stretch with many lodgings to choose from. Teng and I just don’t know where to get off, and got more anxious as some of the commuters alighted in front of their hotel lobbies. We were afraid the bus will take us out of Mui Ne. After hearing from the driver that the bus would end at Singh Cafe, in the end, we just took a gamble and rode all the way to the terminal.

It was a lucky choice though. After we arrived there, we just walked less than 50 metres when one of the staff from Baotran appraoched us and go like “come come hotel cheap cheap”. Teng did some research prior to the trip and Baotran Resort was one of the choices with rooms with sea view at a cheap price.

So we we followed the staff along the road to the resort, just a 5 minute walk. We asked the counter staff how much for sea view, she said 35usd. It’s suppose to be like 15 usd for that room, and other room at 6usd per pax. We were not really happy with the price, so we tried looking for othe resorts to stay, and the staff go like “cheap cheap, the other resort more expensive”. She was right man, we walked a couple of them and prices were really steep. We tooked the time to booked our bus tickets back to Saigon. Nabehz, holiday period tickets go times 2 the usual rate, and they know we don’t get ticket lan lan cannot go back to HCM. so we paid 320k dong for 2 tickets.. Zzzz….

Anyway, Teng just wanted the sea-view room so badly. We took it anyway. I don’t think we will have much chances for any trip soon. But after we took the room, we kinda regretted it. Say sea-view, in front of us all those nice benches, lots of other people also used them. It’s kind of agitating, we might as well took a normal room and just lay at the spot later anyway.

We put our baggages down. And found one interesting thing. The electricity goes on and off a lot. Later I found out that the staff will switch off the main switch if they thought no one is in the room. Went off to the resort cafetaria and ordered off some food for lunch.

Bored and tired after a long 4 hour ride from HCM to Mui-Ne

Look at how bored Teng is as she waited for lunch to come. Pretty hungry and tired from the ride.

Our food finally arrived, looks at the feast!

Our food finally arrived! Look at that spread of rice, fried rice, grilled sotong, kang kong, pan fried fish, sweet and sour shrimp soup and lemon juice for 122k dong.

There is the sotong that we didn't eat for very long time...

And a fried rice they called special frice but not really very special but tasty...

And the Kangkong with garlic but no dried shrimps and balachan chilli...

The delicious pan fried fish...

The sweet and sour shrimp soup...

We ate finished our lunch, lazed around a bit, smoke a bit, relaxed and smiled happily. I guess the trip was good, and more than we expected. Sometimes, when you are in a place too long, you just want to get out from it and look at something maybe familiar or new. This trip somehow perks up our adrenaline.

Of course we didn’t laze around long. Soon, we took a walk down the beach, enjoyed the sunshine we missed so much, and went ooh ahh about the sea. There were interesting sights along the coast, but we just grew wary from walking. Halfway, the super old digital camera broke down anyway, so we didn’t take much pictures. I thought it’s finally dead and I can finally buy a DSLR for good. But nope, it’s just the batteries that gone flat on me.

We came back from the walk after like spending an hour’s walk. Went off for a swim. Teng asked me whether I can swim, I told her I learnt a little while in the army. And then I asked her, she can rescue me if I kena something bad. She kinda freaked out and go No way. I hold on to her as I do some doggy style swimming. Hoho. We stayed in the water for like maybe 30 minutes before rushing back to the lands. Bathed and relaxed by the Beach later.

Later, I found something floating by the coast. So I rushed off to keh-poh about it. Kao, Big jelly fish I tell you, the biggest I ever seen in my life. Imagine that thing alive while I was in the water with Teng. Teng was like going turtles eat Jelly fish when she saw it. Oh well…

Wah Seh!! Big Jelly Fish!!

You don't believe how big? Compare my size 7 bata slippers with it... o.O

Luckily its dead and on shore...

Positively bad photography plus lousy Photoshop

Lazing around...

Just lazing together as we look at the horizon...

Took some more photographs after charging for like 30 minutes. That’s about it. We took our dinner at the cafeteria again, and then laze around a bit. Drink some beer, went out for a walk. Then went to eat some la-las and crockles by so a street vendor. Walked back to the resort and rest. Oh yuh, we booked a trip around town for some sight seeing the next day early in the morning the next day at 5am. Slept really early, greeted by swishes and swirls as the waves sang us gently to sleep…
