What are furniture from home?
What are furniture from “home“ to Singaporeans? To us, we will either think cheap furniture from IKEA, especially for young family start-ups who cannot afford to have too much cash in getting luxury items. That, or we will want furniture that depicts a South-East Asian Identity, furniture from Thailand, Indonesia, China, made from canes, rose wood. They will look very ethnic with solid fixtures that will withstand time. We will try by every means to include something that has Asian values in our living area: anything zen, Bali furniture, minimalist. Even drinking cup and utensils that depict South-East Asian will make us happy. But of course, that does not apply to all of us.
Getting a furniture for the house is not an easy task. Because we tend to look for something that will not break down easily when we move house, we are rather picky. Sometimes we will look for western furniture if our houses can afford such luxury and space. Most of the time, people will show efforts in decorating their own master bedroom and getting really good bedroom furniture. For those who loves to cook, the kitchen is very important. For those who uses the living room so much, the same applies.
As for those who work as home, we is becoming very popular(we call it SOHO), getting Home office furniture without making the house looking too office like is a task worth spending many hours on. Imagine if you do not do it correctly, especially if you are married, your spouse will most probably be screaming his/her head off for ”destroying” the living environment. As we all have very limited space in Singapore, this is really a vital issue as we cannot afford to change house or renovate and get rid of unwanted furniture frequently(money not enough 钱不够用).

Just that we do not have the space for them somehow.
