San Jose, So near yet so far

Let me tell you about something that happened a month ago. I was on a trip San Jose to get something done up over the weekend. Because I did not do any google earth prior to my trip, or at least I did but not extensively enough, some screw up happened along the way. You see I was book a flight from Shanghai to SF, and from there I took a flight to LAX, so that I can actually get myself to San Jose Airport. However, if one actually takes a closer look at the map of America, one will realise that San Jose can be reached by taxi from SF in maybe 45 minutes at most.
